Central Park Conservancy, Best Practices for Urban Park Management

The Central Park Conservancy hired STACH to formulate for the Conservancy a flagship offering for outreach and education to other urban parks. STACH document internal practices and established organizing principles and practices to reflect the Conservancy’s leadership in Urban Park Management. With over 40 million visits per year, across 300 acres of turf, these best practices tell the Conservancy’s well-storied history in management and care for its open spaces. The guidance provided recounts in narrative form, the development of standards and practices used today by the Conservancy, and further supported by prescriptive “best-practices” detailing the methods and procedures unique to managing turf within America’s most visited urban park.
